Chesser commits to undertake its business ethically with integrity and transparency, respecting the laws and cultures under which we operate and having in place quality corporate governance and risk management standards.
Creating genuine and sustainable relationships with our host communities and government is critical to Chesser’s, and its Senegalese subsidiary Boya’s, approach.
Through trust, transparency and open communication, we are committed to developing local communities as respected partners in our endeavours.
At our Diamba Sud Project the local community live in the Gamba-Gamba village. Our collaborative social investment agreement with the community is renewed annually where we agree to specific environmental, social, economic and ethical support programs and undertakings for all parties.
We maintain an open dialogue with Village Chief’s updating them regularly on our activities as part of an open communication policy, the purpose of which is to build and maintain an effective partnership between Chesser and the local population by promoting trust, transparency and regular communication.
Chesser is committed to supporting local employment, education and skills training and the community is committed to supporting Chesser’s activities and access.
Chesser has committed to supporting a number of community development projects all designed to have a positive impact on the daily life and the quality of life of the local population. During 2021 the Community Consultation Committee was inaugurated and meets regularly. The Gamba-Gamba Village Water Tower was completed and provides water for the village and in late June, the Medical facility was officially opened.
As part of our Environmental and Social Impact Assessment studies we have built a weather station at Diamba Sud. Click here to view the local weather in Diamba Sud.
