Directors and Management

Chesser Resources Limited is managed by an energetic board and management team possessing a broad range of technical, commercial, legal and financial skills with significant experience in the Australian resources industry. Profiles are as follows:

Richard Valenta BSc, PhD, P.Geo (ON,NL), FAUSIMM

Managing Director

Dr Rick Valenta has a wealth of experience in the resources sector having spent the last 25 years employed in various roles in North America, Central America and Australia. Most recently Dr Valenta joined the board of Bondi Mining Ltd and prior to this he played a key role with the highly successful Canadian based, Fronteer Group, where he was Chief Operating Officer and Vice President Exploration of Fronteer Development Group (“Fronteer”) and Chief Geoscientist of Aurora Energy Resources Inc (“Aurora”). During that time the approximate market capitalisations of these companies increased from CDN$11 million to CDN$980 million and CDN$216 million to CDN$1 billion respectively. This reflected the success of Dr Valenta's team in making significant new discoveries and increasing resources – from no resources to 2.1 million ounces of gold (Fronteer) and 96 million pounds of uranium (Aurora).

Over the past 10 years, he has directed exploration expenditure of US$40 million, resulting in the discovery of resources with a total in-ground value of US$8 billion. He has carried out successful regional selection and project generation on six continents, seeking a range of base metal, gold and uranium target styles and environments. He led the Central American exploration of a major Australian mining company (Mount Isa Mines), resulting in two important mineral discoveries. He has developed strong and productive relationships with community and indigenous stakeholders in Canada, Mexico and Australia leading to increased exploration access.

Dr Valenta is also the Managing Director of Bondi Mining Ltd.

Stephen W.J. Evans BA(Acc) FAICD

Non Executive Chairman

Stephen Evans is the Managing Director of a leading Adelaide based accounting firm, RJC Evans & Co which was established in 1920. Stephen has over 25 years experience in advising small, medium and large corporations in relation to tax, accounting, financial and business related matters. He is a member of the Taxation Institute of Australia, National Institute of Accountants and a Fellow of the Institute of Company Directors. He brings to the Board a wealth of experience in the accounting, financial and taxation fields. Stephen is a non-executive director of WCP Resources Ltd, Uranoz Ltd, Newport Mining Ltd, Innovance Ltd and Panax Geothermal Ltd. Mr Evans is also a member of the Chesser Resources Ltd audit committee.

Simon T. O’Loughlin BA(Acc)

Non Executive Director

Simon O’Loughlin is the founding member of O’Loughlins Lawyers, an Adelaide based medium sized specialist commercial law firm. For many years he has practiced, both in Sydney and Adelaide, in the corporate and commercial fields with, in more recent times, a particular focus on the resources sector. He also holds accounting qualifications. He is currently Chairman of Living Cell Technologies Ltd, WCP Resources Ltd and Bondi Mining Ltd and a director of Petratherm Ltd, Probiomics Ltd and Aura Energy Ltd. He has extensive experience and involvement with companies in the small industrial and resources sectors. He has also been involved in the listing and back-door listing of numerous companies on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) and National Stock Exchange (NSX). He is a former Chairman of the Taxation Institute of Australia (SA Division) and Save the Children Fund (SA Division). Mr O'Loughlin is also a member of the Chesser Resources Ltd audit committee.

Simon J.R. Taylor BSc (Geology), MAIG, GCertAppFin (Finsia)

Non-Executive Director

Simon Taylor is a geologist with 17 years experience throughout Australia in gold, base metals and nickel, having held senior geologist and exploration manager positions for numerous ASX listed resource companies. He has gained considerable experience in exploration, project assessment and joint venture negotiations. He is a founding non-executive Director of Bondi Mining Ltd, Newport Mining Ltd and ProbiomicsLtd,and the founding Director of Geeland Pty Ltd providing consulting services to resource companies and financial corporations as a resource analyst.

Simon’s corporate experience includes project appraisal, advice on placements and fund raising. Simon is a member of the Australian Institute of Geologists.
 

Creagh O’Connor BEc, LLB, ACA

Non-Executive Director

Creagh O'Connor is a founding Director of specialist resource investment bank, Gryphon Partners Pty Limited. Recent advisory assignments undertaken by Gryphon Partners Pty Ltd include: Oxiana Ltd’s A$11bn merger with Zinifex Ltd; Lion Selection Ltd's successful defence of the Indophil Resources NL takeover; Oxiana Ltd's A$265 million acquisition of the Golden Grove base and precious metals operation in Western Australia; Oxiana's A$415 million takeover of Agincourt Resources; the initial public offering of (uranium company) Toro Energy Ltd; the A$80 million acquisition of (gold company) Sedimentary Holdings Ltd by AuSelect Ltd; and Agincourt Resources Ltd’s US$80 million acquisition of the Martabe gold project.
 
Prior to establishing Gryphon Partners Pty Limited, Creagh was employed by the Normandy Mining Group in a variety of roles including company General Manager of Business Development for Normandy Mining Ltd having joined in 1993. Prior to this, he spent 13 years specialising in corporate finance advisory roles and providing general financial advice in Australia and Europe. This included working with companies such as Bain & Company Inc., Morgan Grenfell & Co. and Price Waterhouse Ltd. Creagh has held numerous directorships of resource companies, and was a founding director of Hindmarsh Resources Ltd until it was taken over by Canadian listed Mega Uranium Ltd. He is also currently a director of Bondi Mining Ltd.

Kerry Angel, BB(Acc), CPA

Company Secretary

Kerry Angel is a Certified Practicing Accountant with over 20 years experience in the accounting industry, a significant proportion of which has been in key roles within the mining industry.  She has managed accounting, treasury, finance and shared service functions for a number of large mining and mining service groups, as well as having managed accounting and regulatory reporting roles for a number of ASX-listed junior companies.  Kerry is also currently Company Secretary of Bondi Mining Ltd.

Cem Yuceer, BSc

Exploration Manager - Turkey

CemYuceer graduated from Turkey's prestigious Middle East Technical University in 1998 and worked for Major Drilling, Ortadagu Drilling, and Teck Cominco in Turkey, culminating in a period as Turkish Exploration Manager for Odyssey Resources Ltd. He has participated in a number of successful discoveries and developments during his career in Turkey. Cem Yuceer has a solid blend of experience, technical capability and knowledge of Turkish mineral exploration, and is well placed to lead Chesser's exploration effort in Turkey.
